The Retina Consultants of Alabama physicians are available to operate at the UAB Callahan Eye Hospital every day of the week. Each surgeon has a designated day to perform scheduled surgery cases, however emergency surgery may be performed at the Callahan Eye Hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The UAB Callahan Eye Hospital is the state’s only facility dedicated to providing quality medical and surgical eye care to the people of Alabama and the Southeast. Callahan’s primary business consists of out-patient ophthalmology and ambulatory surgery, making it one of the busiest ophthalmology surgery centers in the country. Moreover, the hospital offers a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week eye emergency room and is the region’s only Level I Ocular Trauma Center.

The Vision Correction Center of Tuscaloosa, Alabama is a single specialty out-patient surgery center providing surgery of the eye. This facility offers the latest surgical technology, and the operating room suites are equipped with state-of-the-art surgical equipment specific to ophthalmology procedures including vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. John O. Mason, III performs surgery at the Vision Correction Center on Wednesdays.
