ABOUT YOUR VISIT

What to Expect at Your Appointment

A retina appointment is often more detailed than a routine eye exam. Your visit may include dilation, retinal imaging, diagnostic testing, and discussion of treatment options with your physician.

  • Plan for your first visit to take approximately 2–3 hours.
  • Your eyes will be dilated for a thorough retinal examination.
  • Dilation may cause blurred vision and light sensitivity for several hours.
  • Your visit may include retinal imaging or other diagnostic testing.
  • Treatment may sometimes be performed during the same visit.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

What to Bring

  • Current insurance cards
  • Driver’s license or other photo ID
  • A list of medications and eye drops you currently use
  • Your eyeglasses or contact lenses
  • Completed new patient forms, if applicable
  • Any information requested by our scheduling team

IMPORTANT REMINDER

Please Plan for Dilation

Dilating drops are used so your physician can thoroughly examine the retina. Your vision may remain blurry and your eyes may be sensitive to light for several hours afterward.

Please arrange for someone to drive you home or make alternate transportation arrangements after your appointment.
